!3th, 14th and 15th July inclusive, I'm looking forward to seeing all those booked in for three solid days of art. We have a theme this year - mixed media, but I shall begin by giving everyone a worksheet with compositional examples for landscapes. I'll send you all out to find compositions that match the examples I give you! Above are some examples of paintings with various of the following...strong verticals or horizontals, good foreground references and subjects falling on the golden section.
Students will begin by going out to make drawings and sketches using the example images I give them as a guide for their own compositions. These sketches will be the working drawings for the mixed media work back at the hall (bring sketch books and drawing things!).
Some students will follow the plans but others may choose to do their own thing and that is a very important thread to Chettle Summer School - that students can experiment with ideas that they bring from home.
As you all know I've been rather busy lately up in Nottingham with my daughter who was about to give birth to her 2nd child...in a birthing pool in the living room! Firstly through the hot weather we thought the baby would never arrive (he did!). Secondly we thought our daughter was mad to choose a home birth but actually it went very smoothly. The two NHS midwives in attendance were 1000% brilliant and Albert Simon Allum was born at 10.15pm on Saturday 28th June.
