Three more weeks in Hong Kong coming to and end!

I'll be home by next Thursday! It's been hot and humid with endless rain and thunder so I haven't dared take out my nice camera in case it gets waterlogged. We've been mostly taken up with childcare. In China, new mothers lie-in for a month in a confinement hotel. Our daughter in law has done her confinement in Shenzhen (with the twins) so we've been going over there for weekends but spending the weekdays in Hong Kong doing the school run for their older sibling. As her parents couldn't decide which school to send her to, they've sent her to one in the morning (Shrewsbury School - offshoot of the UK Shrewsbury School) and a different one in the afternoon, a very local school which teaches in English, Cantonese and some Mandarin. It makes the school run quite complex! Added to that are classes after school - two art sessions per week, ballet, gymnastics and Chinese lessons at home - quite a timetable for a three-year-old (nearly four). We've had end-of-term parties and shows - a wild party at the local school and a rather more formal performance at Shrewsbury!

You'll see from the weather forecasts we've had some pretty extreme weather! ...and yes that's a doggy in a nappy in that window in the final picture (not uncommon here).

Really looking forward to some temparate English weather, a green English garden and of course seeing all of you who'll be at the next workshop in just over a week's time (Sunday 28th June).

About this site...

I am an art teacher living and working in Dorset.  I have taught for the Adult Education Service and the University of Bath, plus some supply teaching in my local schools but now I run my courses privately. This site is intended as an addition to my teaching, primarily now to showcase the Sunday workshops I run.

All lessons are also available for any one anywhere who would like some ideas on what to teach, what to learn or is just interested in seeing what we do.

I'm afraid I won't be able to answer emails asking for comments on anyone's work (other than for currently enrolled students).

I run Sunday workshops, one every month and a short summer school.. Other than that I spend every available moment in my studio or drawing and painting elsewhere.

I studied for four years at The Slade School of Fine Art where I was awarded The Slade Prize on graduation. I went on to travel and study further finally doing a P.G.C.E at Exeter University with Ted Wragg as my mentor. It was a wonderful year of education which set me in good stead for my years of teaching since then.
